One Shine {Guest Post by Evin}

As I was gazing at the sky,
I saw a star shine. The brightest shine.
I imagined it was me, I hope I would shine like that star
One day; but even brighter, as I would prove
I’m a smart worker.

The image Evin picked out!

(BY THE POET!)

I’m Evin, just a normal tween who does rollerskating and speaks a little Spanish. I’m from India and I’m really proud to be Indian. My favourite colour is blue and I really like to dance! If I’m not a writer when I’m older, I’d be a dancer. Or maybe a photographer. You never know! I love writing short stories, poems and posts!!

(PROVIDED BY THE POET!)

This is a poem I wrote 2 years ago when I was on a school camping trip! It was nighttime when I wrote this poem, because I couldn’t go to sleep!! I looked outside and saw that the sky was filled with stars!! I quickly grabbed a Pen and a notebooks and started writing and in the end it turned out to be a poem!!

A huge thank you to Evin @ A Curly Sue’s Ramblings and A Wanderful Life! (her travel blog) for sending in this lovely poem! I was touched by the profound childlike innocence hidden in these lines. A child’s raw desire to shine like a star has been portrayed so beautifully here and I think this is also suited to grown ups as a gentle reminder to never stop shining. The world could never run out of people who shine for others, lighting up others’ paths and there is always space for more. Do check out her blogs, her posts are just as kind and lovely as she is!
